The owners of this traditional house in NW Washington came to us to design a modern 3-story addition onto the rear of their home. The primary goal was to add a 1st floor family / dining room, renovate the kitchen, and add a 2nd floor bedroom suite. The addition features a large north facing glass wall in the family / dining room and in the master suite,  dramatically opening up the house to natural light and views of the private garden and beyond.  The unfinished steel surround and stone mantel at the fireplace along with the maple wall panels and custom built-ins create a warm interior. The exterior finishes consist of an aluminum and glass curtain-walls system, prefinished aluminum standing seam roofing / siding and rear wall stucco in-fills.
