This project includes a new 2-story building on Rhode Island Ave. housing a public library on the 1st floor with multipurpose rooms above and the renovation of two existing buildings with a new 2-story lobby addition in the space between. The completed project will join all three properties together to become the city's new Civic and Cultural Center. The new lobby, opening onto a large public plaza, is filled with filtered sunlight controlled by vertical metal fins attached onto the exterior of a 2-story curtain wall. A 40ft long entrance glass canopy extends out into the plaza towards the parking spaces on Percy Street.  The library/multipurpose building includes a large light monitor on the new green roof allowing filtered light to the 2nd floor rooms. The project was designed to meet USGBC LEED GOLD regulations.
